Terms of Service

Last updated: July 29, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Postal Pigeon macOS application and related services (together, the "Service"), operated by Postal Pigeon ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the service

Postal Pigeon is a native macOS application that provides end-to-end encrypted messaging, file sharing, and calling. Conversations are encrypted on your device and relayed without being stored; when the last participant leaves a conversation, it and its associated encryption keys are permanently deleted. We offer a free Personal plan and a paid Pro plan with additional capacity and features, described on our pricing page.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, if higher) to use Postal Pigeon. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

4. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Because Postal Pigeon is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot recover message content if you lose access to your device or encryption keys — please keep your device secure and any backup/recovery options enabled.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Postal Pigeon to:

  • Violate any applicable law, or the rights of any third party;
  • Distribute malware, spam, or content designed to disrupt or damage other users' systems;
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse another person;
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or undermine the encryption or security of the Service in a manner not covered by our responsible disclosure policy;
  • Use the Service to exploit, endanger, or distribute content that exploits minors.

Because message content is end-to-end encrypted, we generally cannot see or moderate it. You remain solely responsible for content you send, and for complying with the laws that apply to you.

6. Subscriptions and billing

The Personal plan is free. The Pro plan is billed at $4.99/month (or the then-current listed price) and renews automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from Settings → Subscription; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial periods except where required by law. Prices may change with notice before your next renewal.

7. Intellectual property

Postal Pigeon, our logo, and our encryption protocol documentation are owned by us or our licensors. Client source is published for independent audit under a separate license; publication for audit purposes does not grant you rights to use our trademarks or to redistribute the app commercially.

8. Third-party services

The Service may rely on third-party infrastructure (such as payment processing) as described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the availability or practices of third-party services outside our control.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely immune to compromise — no security architecture can guarantee absolute protection.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Postal Pigeon and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law. Because conversations are deleted when the last member leaves by design, termination of an account does not create a separate deletion obligation for message content — there is none retained to delete.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email with reasonable notice before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in [Your Jurisdiction], unless applicable law requires otherwise.

14. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to legal@postalpigeon.app.

This page is a general-purpose draft. The bracketed jurisdiction, the billing terms, and the contact address should be replaced with your actual business details, and reviewed by a lawyer before publishing.
